The Best Function Rooms Near Marrickville
Years of celebrating with Inner West families, finding private function rooms near Marrickville that genuinely deliver on food, atmosphere, and hospitality takes a little more than a Google search. What most locals eventually land on is the same answer: ten minutes north-west up Illawarra Road to Norton Street, Leichhardt, where Aperitivo Pizza & Pasta has been doing exactly this for years. Head north-west along Illawarra Road, join Parramatta Road heading west, and turn right onto Norton Street. It becomes second nature after the first visit.
Whatever the occasion, the team behind our private function rooms near Marrickville handles everything from the first enquiry to the final course. The planning stays with us, so the evening can stay yours.
The Occasions We Live to Host
Big gatherings or intimate celebrations, our private function rooms near Marrickville have held them all. Here is what fills our calendar:
Birthdays
Order for the table, bring the people who matter, and let the food carry the night. Every birthday deserves a setting that does the occasion proper justice.
Christenings
There is something about welcoming a new life with the whole family gathered and a generous Italian spread on the table that needs no overexplaining.
Communions
A meaningful spiritual milestone, honoured with a shared meal that holds the same significance as the day itself.
Engagements
An announcement this good deserves a dinner to match. Bring the people who’ve been there through everything and let a proper Italian table mark the beginning of what comes next.
Corporate Dinners
Our private dining room is well suited to team dinners and client events, with shared Italian menus that work naturally for mixed groups, and a projector available for any presentation your evening might call for.
Anniversaries
Years worth celebrating don’t belong at a quiet corner table. The kind of evening that actually reflects the occasion, that’s what we put together.
Built for Sharing, Designed for the Occasion
Two things have always been true about Italian food: it belongs in the middle of the table, and it tastes better with more people around it. Function packages start from $39 per person and are structured with both in mind, antipasto to open, then handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza served as shared plates that the whole group reaches for together. Both seated sit-down formats and cocktail-style events are available, with enough variation across the packages to accommodate most group sizes and occasions.
Prefer to build something from scratch? Bring the specifics, your headcount, the occasion, any dietary needs, and the team will put together a menu that actually fits rather than one that almost does.
Prefer a Different Setting? There's Always Capriccio
Our sister venue Capriccio carries the same Italian hospitality to a different address. If “pasta near me” or “pizza near me” started your search and you’re still comparing options across the Inner West, Capriccio is well worth adding to the shortlist.
The Reviews Speak for Themselves
Aperitivo delivers on every level. We enjoyed the spaghetti bolognese, the Napoletana pizza, and a fresh rocket, pear & Parmesan salad, all outstanding and clearly made with care. The food was first-rate, authentic, and full of flavour. Service was exemplary from start to finish, and their AVPN Naples credentials are truly well-deserved. Highly recommended.
Very friendly service and delicious aldente pasta my prawn and zucchini in a bisque sauce was perfectly balanced and the ragu was rich. Lovely light starter of zucchini flowers. Will be back with the family for sure.
The food and service is impeccable here. Papardelle ragu in particular was incredible. Serving sizes are generous and it was a fantastic experience all round. Highly recommend.
Excellent Restaurant! One of my favourite in Sydney. Certainly my go to for Italian Food cravings! The food is always so well prepared and the staff are so kind and friendly. My little sister (3yrs) loves the back play area, it’s perfect for a family meal! 😍

Frequently Asked Questions
Before you get in touch, most questions about our private function rooms near Marrickville are answered right here.
We're hosting a christening. Is this something Aperitivo does regularly?
It is. Christenings, baptisms, and first communions are among the most familiar bookings at Aperitivo on Norton Street, Leichhardt, the kind of family milestones the private dining room is set up to handle well. Handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, and antipasti arrive as shared plates for the whole group, which suits the generous, communal spirit these occasions call for. Send through the occasion type, your preferred date, and an approximate headcount, and the team will build a package from there.
What's the capacity of the function space, and are there different layout options?
The private room accommodates between 10 and 140 guests and can be configured for either a seated sit-down dinner or a standing cocktail-style event. Reserving the space doesn’t incur an additional fee; instead, a minimum spend applies, which varies by day and time of booking. Food and drinks together count toward that figure, and if the minimum isn’t reached on the day, a room hire fee steps in instead.
When should we ideally make our booking?
As early as possible, without a hard rule on minimum lead time. Function dates operate strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, and certain weekends fill well ahead of schedule. All it takes to start the process is your preferred date, occasion type, and a rough guest number, the team will confirm what’s available and outline next steps. The booking is locked in once the holding deposit has been received.
What's actually served on the day, and how does the food work?
Before the event, you select your preferred dishes from each course on the menu. On the day, those selections are served as shared plates to the whole table, with no individual plating, which keeps the focus on eating together rather than order-taking. Menus are built around seasonal produce and serve as a guide, so minor adjustments may be necessary; specific requests are welcome and considered in advance. If a drinks package is included, unlimited beverages from within the chosen tier are available for 3 hours from the event’s start time. Anything additional is charged on consumption, and RSA is applied throughout.
Is parking easy for guests to find in the evening?
Metered street parking runs along Norton Street and through the surrounding side streets in Leichhardt. The detail most guests are glad to know in advance: parking on Norton Street is free after 7 pm, which comfortably fits the timing of most evening function bookings. Passing this information on to your guests before the night, particularly for larger groups, makes the arrival experience noticeably smoother.
What happens with the deposit if plans change or we need to cancel?
A $300 holding deposit is required to confirm the booking, paid once the preferred date has been checked for availability. Guest numbers must be finalised and submitted at least 24 hours before the event, any drop below the confirmed headcount after that point is charged at the food cost per missing guest. For cancellations, less than 48 hours’ notice results in the holding deposit being forfeited in full.
Does the menu accommodate guests who eat gluten-free or vegetarian?
Yes. Both gluten-free and vegetarian options are available in the function menu. For the full breakdown of what each package tier covers, the function menu is the most detailed reference. Any requirements beyond these, specific allergies or less common dietary needs, should be mentioned at the enquiry stage so the event organiser can confirm what can be prepared and plan accordingly.
Can we arrange a look at the venue before we commit?
Yes, and walkthroughs are by appointment only. Setting a time in advance allows our team to walk you through the room layouts, discuss package options, and address anything specific to your event without being pulled in other directions. Include a preferred day and time when you first get in touch, and we’ll confirm a suitable slot for you and anyone else involved in the planning.
Are we allowed to bring in a cake and set up our own decorations?
Both are welcome. Outside cakes are fine to bring; a cakeage fee of $3 per person applies. The space itself can be decorated however you like: banners, balloons, centrepieces, signage, and personalised touches of any kind are all permitted, as there’s no restrictive décor policy. BYO food and beverages beyond the cake are not permitted; all other food and drinks are to be ordered from our function menus.
Is the space suited to corporate functions and business dinners?
Yes. Corporate lunches, team dinners, and client gatherings are a consistent part of the function calendar here. The venue handles seated and cocktail-style formats equally well, and shared Italian menus naturally accommodate groups with varied dietary preferences. A projector is available if your event includes a presentation or business component. Include your date, event format, guest numbers, and any AV or layout requirements when you enquire, and the event organiser will tailor a package accordingly.
